that's not negative space at the top, that's a great big empty spot. you look at it, you ask yourself, What Isn't There?, and you base your interpretation of the image on your answer.

It's a really nice piece...but you could have used that space at the top so much better. It takes away from everything else by being a blank spot..negative space is good but not in this case. It's a great painting though
