we were the thumbs (not the baltimore, md ones) we had a show at SWT down in san marcos and emphraim and some trombone dude were hired for another band but they liked our sound so they jammed with us we used to play minutemen songs and other really short jazzy jams thumbs used to play the blue flamingo regularly good times! yes ephraim is a very badass horn player

yup-you got it wrong- ephraim owens trio was a great jazz 3 piece. i think it's all the green that makes me think of the flag.
