Does Dave still make posters? Nuttin's been submitted for 5 years but maybe he's not posting here either... website wasn't updated for 2 years either. Just curious, always liked his stuff.
Yep, Dave, it was during the 90s that there were magazine articles showing this photo of her from a book on festish photos by Doris Koestler.
My ex is on the cover of all of Doris' 3 books, so everyone thinks Doris is my ex, but not.
You don;'t know how much is sucked to go past a window display with 50 of the books staring at me.
Yep, knew that tonque well.
She started out from a tearsheet I had saved in my morgue file from around the mid 90s. It was from a magazine though, and not a book. And I changed her profile and chin somewhat too. And of course the tongue. :)
But wow Sal, that'd be pretty wild if that's the same girl. Small world.
yep, it's my ex girlfriends face alright. Same everything as the photo.
She was a mental case, but a hot 6 foot blonde with great body, nice big boobies.
too bad she hated her self, she had an extermely bad childhood.
Dave, did you base this on a photo from a book?
If so, the photo that I am thinking of, the blonde with the long tongue is my ex-girlfriend that I was with for 8 years. She was the model in many of the photos in that book.
I think is really cool Gink. The colour work is great and the composition is really cool. Plus the type is cool. Is there anything I don't like about it? Nah, but I think Craig (lead singer) is a dick. Oh and I love chicks with long tounges..... and leaves....oh God. :D
Hi everyone,
I just wanted to say thanks to anyone from here that may have voted for this poster at the Altpick awards site. I just received the following e-mail from them:
>>>Congratulations David!
Your image "The Vines" has been voted as the #1 most popular image for the Altpick awards design section, and will be featured in the 2004 Alternative Pick book.<<<
So...thanks again!!!! It's definitely a thrill!!
Since we've established that there is no limit to self promotion I'd like to petition Clay and Kendra look through my brief history of masterpieces, surely my brilliance was overlooked at some point? No?

Just got back from this show. I was actually impressed!! they did a really good job! and on top of that I had a great time!
Anyway...Thanks again to everyone who commented on this!
Gink, this is awesome. I love to see an artist stretch themselves outside of what they normally do. I think it is what seperates a designer from an artist who uses a single style...multi-faceted skill sets are rare...and you blew me away with this Dave. I would have never have guessed its yours just because of the style. ITS REALLY GOOD!
good concept, good style & good typography = a fucking excellent poster. The tongue is most impressive and shows perfect balance and great restraint. Mr.Gink, you have "an eye"
yeah this is great... plus he has always been a great designer, just also does illustration.. dave is a great dude.. just joking bro.. u know that..
snoogins...
Dave, you're so full of crap! haha!!
This is a 3-color 14x22" screen-print. The pantone colors are 577, 348 and black. Printed by Drowning Creek. Richie you'll have to contact Jeff for the printing specs. :)
The hand-written lettering started out as a font called "KathleenieFont" but it looked to consistent so I printed out the type and re-drew most of it by hand and scanned it back in. "The Vines" lettering was done by hand.
Glad ya'll dig it! It's one of my crossover design/illustration attempts. Thanks!!
Is this screen printed? What durometer was the squeegie? What mesh and how many newtons for the tension?
I never kiss girls with shit growing out of theiir mouths.
Hmm, maybe I haven't been paying attention to the new posts for awhile. But, it seems there are some really great new ones lately with both great images and inventive, appropriate, successful typography.
