In the case of this poster, the band requested Alan do the poster. But Scrojo is pretty dead on about the normal 'approval' process.

not to argue with my esteemed collegue from texas but......... BGP requires you turn in 3-4 concepts for approval. from my experience they tend to shoot down "traditional" fillmore ideas. i think alan had gone thru the band first then brought this one to BGP. either way killer poster.

There are a few now-famous artists that put a lot of sweat and hours into creating the legacy that Fillmore posters should be. They didn't do all that just to have it tarnished by a shitload of mediochre work some 40 years later. Bravo on this one. Sperry's work too.
