BigDumbRockSend BigDumbRock a message :   I remember that Oasis show that didn't happen. Ahh, the old Cicero's. So many memories. So many great bands played there. The place made living here a little bit more tolerable. A huge void that has yet to be filled, even though some people are trying. Some more than others.;)   2002-11-09 07:49:19

guyburSend guybur a message :   so ANYway. These last four items are a response to Art's note about wanting to see some early stuff. In my recent unpacking of ten tons of garbage from yesteryear, I also have a bbunch of my first posters. The blind and narrow fool I was, I actually painted or cut colored paper and glued or drew or colored on acetate or cel-painted my originals with overlays for the text crudely done in early Corel or some shite and the club paid like a buck a piece for about twenty color copies and we posted them around Delmar in St. Loser and that was about it. These paosters were all done in, say, 1994? Earlier? '95? We would do a week's calendar at the bottom and sometimes a major artist for the main picture and three or four other artists would rotate. So these are some of those. I did this wasy because i knew nothing of printing or whatever else so the only solution I saw was original art for each one. How would that suit your to construct a piece like this ever time? It is fun to look back at early posters ans see who was playing back then. Early Grifters shows. Low's first album. There's one I didn't get to finish and may post later, incomplete for an English band that I had heard before their album came out. They were booked at Cicero's basement bar. it holds about a hundred people. But they had to cancel the show because they were called Oasis and a week before the show they became the biggest band in the world. I was looking forward to that show. Shit.
So ANYway.
