all three of these bands are classic tacoma bands.

this is a pretty old posters - 5 or 6 years, i think. the ventures were a northwest instro band that formed around the time of the wailers - maybe a little before. they were from tacoma. they were pre-surf, which didn't come along for several years. then they got lumped into the 'fast instro' sound that was the hallmark of surf. then, being smart, they jumped in with both feet and cashed in. but, they used to be the house band at the java jive!
